At the Belize Diabetes and Hypertension Association we aim to educate and help our community on one of the most common chronic illnesses; diabetes. We do so by attending multiple events throughout the year, where we educate the community on how to prevent having diabetes. While those who have diabetes, we help provide necessary supplies to help their condition.
We travel to Santa Elena, Sarteneja , Caribbean Tires, schools, workplaces and other places in Belize to spread awareness on diabetes.
This includes us testing your glucose levels and blood pressure. We also provide counseling and will answer whatever questions you have.
We also attend health fairs in Burrell Boom and ITVET. Which helps us reach more poeple who have diabetes as not everyone can trvael. We also supply test strips and monitors when attending these fairs for those with diabtes.
Other than our fairs and awareness programs, there is a diabetes walk during the month of November. In which this movements helps spread awareness about a chornic illness that not only affects belizeans but people all around the world. Whether walking in support of a loved one or to improve your own health, you help us spead awareness on something that affects everyone.
During the month of November, we have a cyling event which also raise awareness on diabetes. This is where the community invites cyclists of all ages and skill levels to participate in a fun and active way to advocate for diabetes awareness and education.
On the last week of July, there is a summer camp which advocates for our diabetic memebers. This program helps educate our young diabetics on how to take care of themselves with their condition. We also have fun activities and one-on-one counseling available with executives from the Belize Diabetes & Hypertension Association.
Every year, the Belize Diabetes & Hypertension Association has activities the week leading up to World Diabetes Day. This series of events is aimed at raising awareness about diabetes and promote a healthy living.
Every initiative we undertake reflects our commitment to improving the lives of people living with diabetes and hypertension. Through education, support, and community engagement, we continue to make a meaningful difference all year long.
